Patient SMS Service

We send out text messages to patients regularly. It means we can be much more proactive about some communications, messaging you quickly and securely. Some examples of how we might use it are: reminders or notifications (e.g. your prescription is ready) or letting you know we tried to call you.

The Practice name will always be at the bottom of the message and you may have the option to reply to certain messages. For appointment reminders, the messages are sent the day before your appointment and will be sent during working hours.

Please keep your mobile number up to date.

We now have two systems to SMS message patients:
MJOG SMS messages for appointment reminders and national campaigns
AccuRx SMS messages sent by GP’s directly to patients, examples are:

  • Reminders or notifications (e.g. prescription ready, abnormal blood results or appointment needs booking)
  • Responding to simple queries (e.g. if you had a quick question about your medication)
  • Letting you know we tried to call
  • Sending you advice at the end of a consultation

You can now register to receive information by text message on your phone regarding appointments and health care. If you wish to register for this messaging service please fill out the consent form below:

Communication Consent Form – Declaration

I consent to the practice contacting me by text message and/or email for the purposes of health promotion, practice news and for appointment reminders.

I acknowledge that appointment reminders by text are an additional service and that they may not be sent on all occasions but that the responsibility for attending appointments or cancelling them still rests with me. I can cancel the text message facility at any time.

Text messages are generated using a secure facility but I understand that they are transmitted over a public network onto a personal telephone and as such may not be secure, however the practice will not transmit any information which would enable an individual patient to be identified.

** If you do not wish to receive these text messages, you can opt out by obtaining an Opt Out form from reception **
