Well woman appointments are available most days during surgery times. These include cervical smear tests and it is important for women aged 25-49 years to have a smear test every 3 years, and women aged 50-64 years every 5 years, or more regularly as advised by your doctor.
Information on all types of family planning is available during surgery times.
What is cervical screening (a smear test)?
Cervical screening is a free health test that helps prevent cervical cancer. It checks for cell changes (abnormal cells) on your cervix caused by high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV). It is not a test for cancer. We do this in a well woman clinic with a Nurse.
In the UK, you are invited for cervical screening (a smear test) from age 25 until age 64. Cervical screening is not recommended for anyone under 25 years old.
It will take 4-6 weeks to get your results back from your cervical screening.
